Privacy Policy

Introduction

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But here's the deal: we're serious about keeping your info safe, and you deserve to know what we're doing with it.

At Obsidrix Valorium Fitness Center, we're not just about helping you crush your fitness goals. We also wanna make sure your personal data stays locked down tighter than your form on a heavy squat. This policy breaks down what info we collect, why we need it, and how we protect it. We operate outta Toronto, Ontario, so Canadian privacy laws apply - specifically PIPEDA for those who care about the legal stuff.

When you sign up or train with us, we collect a few different types of info:

Personal Identification Stuff
  • Your name, email, phone number, and mailing address
  • Date of birth (gotta make sure you're old enough to lift heavy)
  • Emergency contact details - 'cause safety first
  • Payment info when you're buying memberships or sessions
Health & Fitness Data
  • Medical history and any injuries we need to know about
  • Current fitness level and training goals
  • Performance metrics from athletic testing sessions
  • Progress photos if you choose to share 'em
  • Nutrition consultation notes and dietary preferences
Technical Information
  • IP address and browser type when you visit our site
  • Cookies and similar tracking tech (more on that below)
  • Usage data - which pages you check out, how long you stick around

We're not selling your data to sketchy third parties or anything like that. Here's what we actually do with it:

Service Delivery

Managing your membership, scheduling training sessions, and delivering the programs you signed up for

Safety & Health

Making sure our coaches know about any medical conditions or injuries so they can keep you safe

Communication

Sending class schedules, appointment reminders, and updates about the facility

Billing

Processing payments and managing your account finances

Improvement

Analyzing how people use our services to make 'em better

Marketing

Sending promotional stuff about new programs or special offers (you can opt out anytime)

We're pretty protective of your info, but there are a few situations where we might share it:

  • Service Providers: Payment processors, email services, and scheduling software - basically the tools we need to run the gym. These folks are contractually required to keep your data secure.
  • Medical Professionals: If there's an emergency and we need to share info with paramedics or your doctor.
  • Legal Requirements: If the law says we gotta hand over info (court orders, legal investigations, that kinda thing).
  • Business Transfers: If we ever sell the business or merge with another facility, your info would transfer to the new owners (but they'd still be bound by this policy).
  • With Your Permission: Any other situation where you've given us explicit consent to share.

We'll never sell your personal data to advertisers or random companies. That's just not how we roll.

We take security seriously - like, spotting-your-max-lift seriously. Here's what we do:

Important Note

While we do everything we can to protect your data, no system is 100% hack-proof. We can't guarantee absolute security, but we're constantly working to stay ahead of threats.

  • SSL encryption for all data transmitted through our website
  • Secure servers with regular security updates and monitoring
  • Restricted access to personal data - only authorized staff can see it
  • Regular backups in case something goes wrong
  • Staff training on data protection and privacy best practices
  • Physical security measures at our facility to protect paper records

If we ever experience a data breach that affects your info, we'll let you know ASAP and tell you what happened and what we're doing about it.

Our website uses cookies - not the protein kind, unfortunately. These are small files that help the site work better.

Types of Cookies We Use:
  • Essential Cookies: These keep the site functioning - things like remembering you're logged in.
  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
  • Preference Cookies: Remember your settings and choices.
  • Marketing Cookies: Track whether you came from an ad or social media post.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but heads up - some parts of the site might not work as well. Most browsers let you control cookies pretty easily through their settings menu.

We also use Google Analytics to track site usage. If you wanna opt out of that, you can install Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Under Canadian privacy law, you've got several rights when it comes to your personal data:

Access

You can request a copy of all the personal info we have about you. We'll get it to you within 30 days.

Correction

If something's wrong or outdated, let us know and we'll fix it. Keeping accurate records is important for everyone.

Deletion

Wanna erase your data? We'll delete it, except for stuff we legally need to keep (like financial records for tax purposes).

Opt-Out

Don't wanna receive marketing emails? No problem - there's an unsubscribe link in every email we send, or just tell us directly.

Portability

You can ask for your data in a format that's easy to transfer to another service provider.

To exercise any of these rights, just shoot us an email at info@obsidrixvalorium.info or give us a call. We'll verify your identity and then take care of your request.

We do train younger athletes, but we're careful about it. If you're under 18, we need a parent or guardian's consent before collecting any personal info.

For members under 18, we collect the same types of info as adults but we'll communicate primarily with the parent or guardian. Parents can access, review, or request deletion of their child's information at any time.

Our website isn't designed to attract kids under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them without parental consent. If we find out we accidentally collected info from a kid under 13 without proper consent, we'll delete it immediately.

Privacy laws change, our services evolve, and sometimes we need to update this policy. When we make changes, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

If we make any major changes that affect how we handle your data, we'll let you know through email or a prominent notice on our website. We're not gonna sneak in big changes without telling you.

It's a good idea to check this page occasionally to stay in the loop. By continuing to use our services after changes are posted, you're agreeing to the updated policy.
